LIBRARY:
Believe it or not, our precious school library is not something the state of California pays for. It’s up to us parents to make sure that we keep our library and our librarian around. Our kids need these resources to become better prepared for their future. They rely on the librarian to teach them to be resourceful, and they use the library’s books and computers to fuel their imaginations and help with their research. Imagine the huge loss we would all experience without our library.
C.A.T.C.H:
It stands for Caring Adults Teaching Children How. C.A.T.C.H. is our amazing one on one mentoring program that gives students who need a little extra support, ongoing individual attention to help them develop skills to reach their highest potential. Our goal is to broaden their horizons, and build their self confidence and enthusiasm that will carry them through high school and beyond. Our program has also just been outfitted with 8 brand new Lenovo computers to help the children learn. Stop by and check it out. You’ll be amazed!
TAs:
Class sizes are larger than ever, with not enough teachers to help each kid. It’s tough to think that our kids aren’t getting the individual attention they deserve. This is why we need Teacher’s Assistants in every class. A TA can grade papers and do other tasks, while the teacher spends more time with each kid to make sure everybody is learning at the pace that’s right for them. Let’s please keep our TAs around. Our kids need them!
ART:
Art classes are great for helping enrich our kids’ imagination and creativity. There are studies out there that show how art classes help kids become more successful in their studies as well as in their social and emotional development. An art class might seem unnecessary to our state, but we know that there is a positive impact to having art classes available. What if there was a hidden Picasso inside your kid that needs to be unleashed? Please help us make sure that our art classes don’t go away!
COMPUTERS:
Technology changes all the time, which is why it’s important that we make sure our school can keep up. At work, it’s the job of the decision makers to keep all our computers up to date. At our school, it’s up to us parents to make sure our kids are prepared for their future. Please don’t hold our kids back! Let’s help them succeed with the right technology.
SPANISH:
We are blessed to live in a state where many residents are bilingual in both Spanish and English. It’s a gift to be able to teach our kids Spanish when they are young so that they could have that competitive edge for getting a job faster than others who aren’t as prepared. Please help our kids have a better future with Spanish!
P.E.:
Let’s face it. America has a growing obesity epidemic, and that’s affecting our kids more than we want to admit. If we lose PE at our school, our kids will be the one paying the price. Not only does PE teach them about health and fitness, it also helps grow their confidence and shows them how to work as a team.
MUSIC:
Music is another program that we pay for ourselves, but the benefits for our kids outweigh the cost. Early music training helps develop brain areas involved in language and reasoning, plus it helps kids learn to solve problems with creative solutions. Studies show that students who study the arts are also more successful with their SAT scores. Music study helps enhance teamwork skills and discipline – things they need to succeed!
AND MUCH, MUCH MORE…
